At Andromeda Law, we believe in making legal costs straightforward and transparent. We offer competitive hourly rates and flat fees for specific services to help you understand the expenses involved from the outset. Please note that all fees are subject to Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) as required by Ontario law.
Hourly Rate
Our general hourly rate is $300 per hour. This rate applies to:
- General Litigation: Representation in civil litigation matters, including complex cases in the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
- General Legal Advice: Consultations and advice on various legal matters not covered by our flat-fee services.
- Reviewing/Updating Existing Employment Contracts: For employers looking to review or update their current employment contracts.
Free 15-Minute Consultation
For litigation matters billed at our general hourly rate (such as Superior Court cases, defending Small Claims, or more complex Small Claims cases), we offer a free 15-minute initial consultation. This allows us to assess your situation and determine how we can assist you.
Flat-Fee Services
To provide cost certainty, we offer flat fees for the following services:
Employment Contract Review for Employees
- Flat Fee: $350
If you’re an employee considering a new job offer or changes to your current employment terms, we can review your employment contract to ensure your rights are protected before you sign.
Employment Contract Drafting for Employers
- Base Flat Fee: $1,000 for drafting a new employment contract.
- Additional Employees: $250 for each additional employee.
We draft comprehensive and legally sound employment contracts tailored to your business needs. This service includes:
- Consultation to understand your requirements.
- Drafting a customized employment contract.
- One round of revisions based on your feedback.
Please note: Reviewing or updating existing employment contracts is billed at our general hourly rate.
Small Claims Matters (Plaintiffs) – Flat Fee Structure
For straightforward Small Claims matters (such as basic collections) of between $10,000 and $35,000, we offer a flat-fee structure for services up to the settlement conference or obtaining a default judgment. Please see our Small Claims page for more comprehensive details.
Additional Information
HST (Harmonized Sales Tax)
All fees quoted are exclusive of HST. HST will be added to all fees and disbursements at the applicable rate (currently 13% in Ontario).
Payment Terms
- Retainer Agreement: Before we commence any work, you will be required to sign a retainer agreement outlining the scope of services and associated fees.
- Retainer Funds: An initial retainer may be required, depending on the nature and complexity of the services.
- Payment Methods: We accept various payment methods, including e-transfer and credit card, for your convenience.
